Circular economy
The exnovation of linear economy as implied in the transition towards a reuse and sharing economy
Is the linear functioning of current production and consumption modes likely to be destabilized through active exnovation policies or other exnovation forces?
In Brussels, various functional and sharing economy initiatives have developed in the last years. Such initiatives are proposing the use of a good, rather than the selling of the good itself (ex: Cambio/car sharing).
Local authorities support those innovations as ways to promote the rational use of resources and to secure local jobs.
However, those innovations do not seem to replace well-established production and consumption modes (or not yet).
In GOSETE, we seek to address the following research questions:
Do business models and consumption practices based on property and extractivism (rather than on use and circularity) experience some kinds of destabilization? Do public authorities consider proactive measures towards this purpose?

- On the 31st of May we hold the workshop 'The transition to a circular economy in Brussels under the exnovation perspective: which policies to exit the linear model?'. This workshop gathered a serie of Brussels and Belgian actors to explore exnovation policies in three different sectors (construction industry, WEEE, shared mobility). Please find here the report (in French): GOSETE_workshop2_Compte-rendu_VF
